Open A Circle

Open a Circle (beta) is a (for now) free, online, secure, private collaborative/meeting space. It allows audio and video chat, app sharing, whiteboard, running powerpoints, document library storage, etc. Only works on IE at present, but working on Firefox and Mac.

OpenHuddle

OpenHuddle is a free, online collaborative environment. Includes video, audio and text chat, and a drawing board.

Scribblar

Scribblar is a free mulitmedia collaborative virtual space. It includes whiteboard, text chat, document sharing and audio capabilities. It’s unclear if there is a limit to the number of participants.

The Information Literacy Game

The Information Literacy Game is a javascript-based, trivial pursuit-ish game developed at UNC Greensboro, where 1-4 players move around a board and answer questions designed to reinforce basic info lit skills. Source files are available for adapting it to your own environment.

LC Classification Game

LC Classification Game – This is a Flash based game that will help with LC Classification.

Writewith: Collaborative document writing. Upload document, invite others, leave notes, view edit history, etc. Ideal and easy for group projects.

iBreadcrumbs

iBreadcrumbs: Browser plugin allows you to record the web sites you visit while doing research and then edit that list of sites and add notes/annotations to each site you include. Then you can share that breadcrumb trail with others. Was thinking this could be cool IL exercise: have students install and then track, annotate/reflect and share the path they took to finding resources on a topic.

Dabbleboard

Dabbleboard: Online whiteboard application, draw and it uses shape recognition to create that shape.  Save images and import them powerpoint presentations or share/collaborate with others by sending the url.

NCSU Libraries Keyword Builder

NCSU Libraries Keyword Builder: Type in key words – it creates a boolean search for you – shows step from keywords to search query using AND, OR and parentheses for grouping synonyns.
